Friends of Rossmoor
About Friends of Rossmoor (FOR)
Friends of Rossmoor (FOR) is a parent-founded, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the educational foundation at Rossmoor Elementary School. We work side-by-side with parents, teachers, administrators, and PTA to raise funds that enrich the academic and social experience of all students.
Our Mission: Supporting STEM and Student Life
FOR’s primary focus is funding and sustaining the Rossmoor STEM Lab—a dedicated space for hands-on learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math that serves every TK–5th grade student.
In addition to STEM, FOR proudly supports Rossmoor’s school-wide House System: Galahad, Gawain, Lancelot, and Percival. This system fosters teamwork, leadership, school spirit, and positive behavior through friendly competition and community-building activities.
Thanks to the support of our Rossmoor community, we’ve been able to fund the STEM Lab and House System for the past nine years—and we need your help to keep it going.
What We Fund
To continue these impactful programs, FOR must raise a minimum of $100,000 each school year. These funds cover:
The STEM Lab teacher’s salary
STEM program materials and supplies
House System incentives and programming
Special enrichment events throughout the year
Fundraising That Builds Community
Our success is made possible through fun and meaningful fundraising events, including:
KNIGHTLIFE – our annual, adults-only celebration and fundraiser (Save the date: Saturday March 28, 2026!)
Day in the Life – Students can win the chance to be a teacher, principal, or staff member for the day.
Teacher Time – A sweet opportunity for students to enjoy after-school ice cream and one-on-one fun with a favorite teacher or staff member.
Yum-Raising with See’s Candies
...and exciting new events on the horizon!
Join Us in Supporting Our Knights
We invite all parents and community members to get involved—attend a meeting, volunteer, sponsor an event, or make a donation. Every dollar makes a difference in maintaining and growing the experiences we can provide for our students.
Look out for FOR news and updates in the weekly Monday Messages.
Meet Our STEM Teacher
Hello Knights!
My name is Mrs. Melisa Baluyot and I love being a teacher. This is my 20th year of teaching, and the best part of teaching is seeing how much fun my students are having while they're learning. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development and multiple subject teaching credential from Cal State Fullerton. I have a passion for teaching STEM and have 11 years of experience teaching STEM at the Tiger Woods Foundation to students in grades 5th through 12th. I love how STEM gives us an opportunity to think outside the box and use our imagination. This is going to be a great year, and I can't wait to see the amazing things that our Knights create in the STEM Lab.
